EICR  - Frequently Asked Questions

How often is an EICR required?

Typically every 5 years for rental properties, or at change of tenancy.

Do I need an EICR if I'm renting out my property?

Yes, Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) (Amendment) (Extension to the Social Rented Sector) Regulations 2025. require all landlords to have the electrical installations in their properties inspected and tested by a qualified person at least every 5 years. They must obtain a report from the qualified person and provide a copy of this to their tenants, and to the local council if requested.

Do you carry out remedial works?

Yes, we can quote and complete any required works following the report.

Do you work on other people's reports?

Yes, we can carry out the works recommended by another contractor.   It may be necessary for the original contractor to reassess at the end, or we can carry out our own EICR afterwards
